UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo issued the warning on Wednesday while addressing the media at the Media Centre in Kampala, where he outlined preparations for the examinations.

A total of 1,620,785 candidates are expected to sit the 2026 final examinations, which will be conducted under the theme: “Advancing Excellence in Assessment and Certification through Secure, Credible, Inclusive and Innovative Processes.”

Odongo urged candidates and schools to verify their personal details, including names, dates of birth and photographs, to prevent errors that could affect the certification process.

He said candidates have a 60-day period, running from August 7 to October 7, 2026, to check and confirm their details. “You are advised to check your particulars in time,” Odongo said.

He also cautioned candidates and parents against individuals who claim to possess examination papers ahead of their official release.

Odongo said such claims are intended to defraud the public and urged candidates not to give money to people promising access to examination papers.

The examination body further reminded schools to ensure that candidates complete and submit their project work within the required timelines. The project work contributes 20 percent to learners’ final assessment.

UNEB said it will continue to prioritise security, credibility and fairness throughout the examination process to ensure that all candidates are assessed under the same conditions.

The board urged candidates, parents and schools to rely on official UNEB communication and avoid individuals offering purported examination papers or other unauthorised examination materials.
