Tooro MPs Rally Around Unity to Drive Regional Development

KITAGWENDA — Members of the Tooro Parliamentary Forum have pledged to work together to advance development projects across the region, saying greater cooperation among lawmakers will help amplify the needs of their constituencies.

The forum chairperson and Mwenge North MP, Lawrence Akugizibwe, said the lawmakers chose to unite under the forum to support one another in advocating for development initiatives in their respective areas.

Akugizibwe made the remarks on Friday during a fundraising drive for the roofing of St. Andrew’s Kihumuro Church of Uganda in Kanyambogo Village, Kakasi Sub-county, Kitagwenda District.

Bunyangabo District Woman MP Sarah Kabarokole Adyeeri and Kyenjojo District Woman MP Spellanza Baguma Muhenda said they expect the forum to create opportunities for MPs to jointly address development challenges affecting the region. They noted that similar parliamentary platforms have been used in other parts of the country.

Bunyangabo County MP Victor Kalenzi, however, urged the public to desist from early political campaigns and give MPs sufficient time to concentrate on their parliamentary responsibilities.

The host MP, Robert Mugabe, thanked his colleagues for their cooperation and called for continued support in raising and addressing the needs of communities in the region.

The main celebrant, Canon Lauben Biryomumaisho, Archdeacon of Ntuntu Archdeaconry, commended Mugabe for embracing cooperation with other MPs, saying the approach was already yielding results.
