Flight Captain Arthur Mugisha Ruchakatsi has continued with his community support activities in Kisoro, donating 100 helmets to boda boda riders and pledging to provide another 100 helmets every month as part of his road-safety initiative.
His community interventions have also extended to supporting vulnerable children, with Ruchakatsi pledging to pay full school fees up to Senior Six for Odeta Twizerimana, a disabled Senior Four student at Seseme Girls Secondary School.
Odeta lost her father in May this year, leaving her mother, Uzamukunda Allen, struggling to raise school fees through farming.
The headteacher of Seseme Girls Secondary School, Peace Ruzaza, welcomed the intervention, saying Odeta’s family had often struggled to pay her fees on time, forcing the school to give them additional time to raise the required money.
Odeta’s mother, Uzamukunda Allen, says life became more difficult following the death of her husband because farming is the family’s main source of income.
Odeta, who dreams of becoming a doctor, says she had prayed for someone to come to her family’s aid and believes her prayers have now been answered.
She has pledged to work hard in school and use the opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
Ruchakatsi’s latest interventions come as he continues to associate his community activities with his support for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, whom he describes as a generation leader he wants to see lead Uganda in 2031.
His activities have combined road safety, education and support for vulnerable members of the community, while he says his monthly helmet initiative will continue to target boda boda riders in Kisoro.
