Kisoro Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Dan Ndikumwami, has warned traders in Mupaka Town against selling their goods in the middle of the road.
The warning, issued earlier this week, comes at a time when several traders have been displaying and selling their goods along the road in Mupaka, causing traffic congestion.
Ndikumwami says the practice is affecting the movement of people and vehicles and should stop, especially as markets near the Democratic Republic of Congo border have not yet reopened.
He says traders should not turn the road into a marketplace, adding that the security team will this week visit Mupaka to meet residents, listen to their challenges and discuss possible solutions.

Ndikumwami has also clarified that security teams are permitted to set up roadblocks, but says such roadblocks should not be used as places to collect money from the public.
He says the roadblock and Kuruzi Trading Centre are known to the security team and the office of the Resident District Commissioner, adding that any security operation should be conducted transparently.
