KISORO UGANDA: Businesswomen in Kisoro District have been urged to embrace government programmes, particularly the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women Enterprises (GROW) project, to access funding and expand their businesses.
The call was made during a meeting held at the Kisoro District headquarters on Wednesday, which brought together businesswomen from different parts of the district.
Kato Arisembo from CARE International said he had visited Kisoro to equip women with knowledge on how to access grants and benefit from government programmes in Kisoro, Kabale, Rubanda and other districts.
He noted that women who have already formed groups or associations could improve their chances of benefiting from the programme.
Kisoro District Labour Officer Kakuru Gideon said the GROW project is designed to support women entrepreneurs by providing access to funding to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
Gideon explained that the programme also empowers women through awareness campaigns, helping them identify markets for their products and add value to their goods, depending on the nature of their businesses.
He further encouraged businesswomen to form groups to strengthen their chances of accessing funding and other available opportunities.
Gideon urged women experiencing challenges in accessing government programmes to contact his office for guidance and support, emphasising the importance of empowering women economically and improving their livelihoods.
