“Enough of the Promises, Do the Needful”: Kenedy Demands Better Service Delivery in Ibanda

We are tired of seeing serious issues affecting the people of Ibanda District ignored while leaders continue to claim that they have “engaged the relevant authorities.”

The people are no longer satisfied with endless explanations, photo opportunities with ministers, or public relations campaigns. We need tangible results.

I appreciate the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kibaale District, LCIII chairpersons, the Mayor of Ibanda Municipality, our worship leader Hon. Mulinde Deusdedite, LCV councillors, and all other councillors who are participating in the fight against corruption, particularly in the Parish Development Model (PDM), road funds, and community policing initiatives.

I also extend my appreciation to the Ibanda District LCV Chairperson, Hon. Herbert Happy Mayanja, for his participation in discussions aimed at addressing issues affecting the community.

However, we must remember that leaders were elected to serve the people of Ibanda District, not to seek personal recognition or political praise.

Leadership should be measured by tangible improvements in the lives of citizens. For years, we have called for a genuine Ibanda Symposium where elected leaders, stakeholders, and government officials can openly discuss and find practical solutions to the challenges facing our district.

Instead, we continue to see photographs with Members of Parliament, letters shared on public forums, and promises that rarely translate into meaningful action.

The people of Ibanda deserve:Affirmative government action to address historical disadvantages.

Fair benefits from local resources and equitable distribution of public resources.Better health services and improved access to healthcare.

Improved roads and infrastructure to support communities and economic activities.

Employment opportunities for young people to enable them to build sustainable livelihoods.Effective poverty reduction programmes that deliver measurable results.

Transparent and accountable leadership in the management of public resources. If these concerns continue to be ignored, citizens have every right to organise themselves lawfully and demand accountability from the Ibanda District Executive Committee and their Members of Parliament.

The people are not asking for favours. They are demanding the public services they were promised and the development they deserve.

The time has come for leaders to move beyond speeches, photographs, and symbolism. Ibanda District needs practical action, justice, equitable resource distribution, and a clear development agenda that responds to the needs of its people.

The people of Ibanda have waited long enough. Enough of the promises. Let service delivery speak for itself.
