“Clean Water Tanks, Pay Your Bills — We Are Ready to Serve You,” NWSC Kisoro

KISORO UGANDA: The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Kisoro Branch, has urged residents with water tanks to clean and prepare them ahead of the rainy season to ensure that harvested rainwater is safe for domestic use.

NWSC Kisoro Area Manager Engineer Charles Ateka Odeke, speaking in an exclusive interview with The Lens Reports at his office along the Kisoro–Bunagana Road in Kisoro Municipality, warned residents against collecting rainwater in dirty or poorly maintained tanks.

Engineer Odeke advised residents to use the first rainwater to thoroughly clean and flush their tanks before collecting water intended for household use.

He explained that the first rainfall can help wash dust, dirt and other contaminants that may have accumulated on rooftops, gutters and inside water collection systems. Residents should therefore allow the initial water to run off before beginning to harvest water for domestic consumption.

Odeke said regularly cleaning water tanks and maintaining the surfaces and gutters used to collect rainwater can help reduce contamination and protect public health.

He encouraged residents to take advantage of the rainy season by preparing their tanks early so they can safely harvest and store adequate water for household use.

Engineer Odeke also reminded NWSC customers to respond promptly to electronic SMS billing reminders and pay their monthly water bills on time, saying timely payments enable the corporation to continue providing reliable water services to the community.
