WAKISO, UGANDA: Former Kisoro District LCV Chairperson Bizimana Abel has hailed Avance International University (AIU) as one of the fastest-growing universities in Africa, citing its increasing student enrolment and focus on health sciences.
Bizimana, a scholar and health-sector intellectual, made the remarks in a congratulatory message posted on his official X account following the university’s 5th Graduation Ceremony held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at its main campus in Nabweru, Wakiso District.
A total of 220 students graduated with degrees, diplomas and certificates in various disciplines during the ceremony.
The graduates are among students who had already enrolled at the university when the current management took over the institution in 2024.
The university management also reported a significant increase in enrolment, with more than 3,500 students admitted in August alone, describing the development as a sign of continued growth.
In his congratulatory message, Bizimana thanked Avance International University for what he described as a glorious graduation ceremony.
He said he was proud to be associated with the institution and pledged to contribute to its development.
“I commit to contribute to making our university a center of excellence for health research and innovation. This will book us a great share of influence in academia and community capacity building beyond Africa,” Bizimana said.
Bizimana described health sciences training as Avance International University’s unique selling point, noting that the institution has placed significant emphasis on training doctors, nurses and midwives at certificate, diploma and degree levels.
He also highlighted the university’s programmes in diagnostics and medical imaging, as well as its medical and computer laboratories, which he said combine practical training with e-learning.
According to Bizimana, the university’s School of Law is also focused on preparing students for contemporary legal practice.
He further compared the locations of Avance International University and Metropolitan International University, noting that the two institutions are situated on opposite hills in the greater Kampala area.
Bizimana said both institutions are under the leadership of Dr. Ariyo K. Gracious, whom he described as a “silent but sage” philosophy and academic investor.
Meanwhile, Avance International University has entered into a partnership with the Kingdom of Bululi as part of efforts to expand its services and academic programmes.
The partnership was announced on Friday during the university’s 5th Graduation Ceremony at the Nabweru campus.
The university says the partnership is expected to contribute to the expansion of its academic and community-based programmes.
